Family of Jordanian Child Donate His Corneas After Brain Death
Khaberni – The family of a Jordanian child donated his corneas after he was declared brain-dead following a tragic traffic accident, in a deeply humanitarian gesture reflecting values of compassion and solidarity.
The child, Abdullah Akram Al-Hawajreh, was struck by a vehicle in the Maliha area of Madaba Governorate and was rushed to the hospital, where he was later declared brain-dead last Wednesday.
Abdullah’s father, Akram Al-Hawajreh, stated that his son suffered from severe brain hemorrhage, skull fractures, and lung bleeding as a result of the accident, before passing away.
He explained that despite intensive medical efforts to save his son’s life, his condition was extremely critical. After doctors confirmed the impossibility of recovery, he decided to donate his son’s corneas, considering it an ongoing charity (sadaqah jariyah) for his soul.
The grieving father called on Jordanians to promote the culture of organ donation and to consider donating the organs of their loved ones after death, emphasizing the great humanitarian impact of saving others’ lives.
He also announced that he has forgiven the driver responsible for the accident that led to his son’s death, seeking God’s reward and acceptance of divine destiny.
